Red-Tailed Hawk took one of my girls

A piece on our evening news last night (WRAL) was about a redtailed hawk flying into a mini van and getting stuck in it's front bumper! The animal ocntrol people came and got it loose and took it with them, minimally injured and realy beautiful too. You shuold have seen the dent in the fender over the bumber, I could not believe the size of it, that must have been a big wallop for that bird. He was quite large, I can imagine that a chicken would be no match for the bird I saw. I bet you can find it on the wepage at wral.com if interested. Have a great day ya'll, Darlene

Ivan-
I had not seen that thread (of course, I wasn't having hawk problems this spring, because I didn't let my little girls free range!).

I agree about a hawk landing and then hunting down the hiding chickens while on the ground; I have seen hawks, especially immature red-tails, do that with chipmunks and rabbits.

I really like the day-tractor idea; I'm getting to have quite the tractor collection-perhaps I'll add to it!

I do miss watching my girls run around the yard, though; there was just something so buccolic about that whole thing!
