Agreed, I wouldn't cut it.No, don't cut because the chick could bleed to death (there could be blood vessels).
I would do this asap, i hope your baby makes it!I'm sorry I do not have personal experience with this but I read you can put a chick with such condition into a clean cup (so it sits kind of upright and safe and doesn't lay or scoot on its belly with the open spot) lined with clean kitchen paper towel. In this clean 'safe space' the chick can finish to absorb the yolk. I hope your little chick made it and is fine![]()
I did separate as soon as I posted the pic and I did not cut it.Agreed, I wouldn't cut it.

I think the red thing is the yolk and by the looks of it, it's infected. Some chicks hatch too early and haven't yet fully absorbed the yolk sac which causes it to become infected. When the yolk becomes infected, theres no way to treat and the chick will most likely die within a few days. I suggest to euthanize it.
If you didn't do it already please separate the chick from other chicks so nobody can peck at it.
When the chick is done with it you will see it shrink and dry up then fall off.I did separate as soon as I posted the pic and I did not cut it.
Ok awesome. Thank you. I will hope for the best. When the chick is done with it you will see it shrink and dry up then fall off.
