My poor roo had lice, all around his vent. It was all red and there were egg clusters around the bases of his feathers, and most were broken off from the pecking.

I treated him with permethrin, and I know I have to do it again in about 10 days, but his poor butt is still pretty red! Is there something else I'm missing? There is no matted poo, and I haven't seen anymore adult lice, or seen him itching excessivly, but there are still egg clusters (which I hope will be irradicated on the follow up dusting) I am going to worm him this morning with verm-x, just to be on the safe side. Is this just residual irritation? Is there anyting I can do? Please help!

Might want to hold off on the verm-x, at least for a while. Might be too much at once. They need two treatments for lice; the second one is to kill what hatches after a couple of weeks.

Put some Vaseline, or petroleum based ointment like generic Neosporin, on the vent. If nothing else, it will make him more comfortable.

He might need worming, too, but give him a little time to recover. These treatments are rough on chickens.
