We have red-wing hawks around (I identified their call) and think I have seen one near my horse trough, which is close to the new aviary and day yard for my geese and ducks. I plan on letting my geese out with my runner ducks (in the day yard), when the runners are grown, hopefully the geese will be somewhat protective of the ducks. It is about about a 800 sq ft day yard with a 4 ft fence and hotwire on top and bottom, in the woods -- Do you think the Runners will be fairly safe from hawks with the geese (4) in the same yard (they currently are in the same aviary, with a divider fence between them, so they can grow up together. )-- No babies or young ones, I will wait till they are full grown. Figuring the runners will be about 2.5 feet tall....Not as heavy as the geese, but almost as tall.
