Hello from Illinois! I I guess I'm not necessarily a new member, I joined back in 2011, and really enjoyed learning from this forum. Not exactly sure why I stopped getting on BYC, but I do know that soon after joining we lost our entire flock of 25 or so laying hens to a weasel. Well recently, in the last couple months, I have decided I want to get "back into chickens" and in my research online this forum came up as one of the top search results. For the last couple months I have done hundreds of searches and skimmed through thousands of threads soaking up as much new information as I can, as well as trying to relearn some of the basic things (we had chickens for a number of years but after not having any for a while you tend to forget even some basic stuff haha). So after being a lurker for a while, I thought I might as well log back on (boy did that take a while to find user name and password!), introduce myself again, partake in the conversations, and ask many questions of my own. I enjoying raising/breeding/exhibiting purebred livestock so I am particularly interested in heritage/SOP stock, and always have been, even back when we still had chickens. I would like to eventually get some SOP bred birds but my plan is to start with hatchery stock just to get the hang of things again. Anyway, I look forward to meeting many of you and learning as much as I can on here.

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

I'm sorry for the loss of your original chickens.

Good luck raising some lovely birds again, though!
