Redish color snake.

This morning I woke up to the sounds of panic in the chicken coop. Upon inspection we found a chick dead. When my hubby moved the nesting box there was a snake behind it. Needless to say he took care of it....but its belly had another chick in it. So good news we found the killer, but lost two more babies. Going to block any smaller holes today and maybe buy a cat! Feeling very sad this morning.

What a horrible thing to find.

I don't know what size opening a small snake could get through. But I would think entirely surrounding the babies with 1/4" hardware cloth would keep them safe
