This morning I noticed some red dots on my Orpington's legs. It looks like what would be skin irritation or a rash. Does anybody know what it could be? I thought perhaps it was mites, but there are no other signs of mites yet. Any ideas?

Birds with light colored legs will have a red stripe running down the outside. It will vary from a deep blood red to faint and almost pink.

Usually Scaley Leg mites are not noticable until the scales on the legs start to lift and make the legs look rough.

Where are the dots and how old are the birds?

I heard its from hormones, some of my birds have it too. And most of the birds that have it are just starting to lay

That explains why my buff orps legs and feet turned red, and she started to crow and low and behold my Martha was an Arthur.
