Advice about regurgitation

Needing some advice or thoughts about our chicken.
On Monday, we got rid of 2 of our 5 chickens. They were huge bullies and we could not break their habit.
Starting Tuesday, our smallest and most picked on chicken regurgitated a small amount of clear liquid then gobbled it back up. She’s done it about 3x since then (that we’ve seen)
Her crop is completely empty in the morning. She continues to eat and drink, comb is pink, she is active. When we press on her crop it feels like the other chickens and it doesn’t cause more regurgitation.
Do we think she is overeating now that bullies are gone? Or could it be sour crop?

Hi,

It could be a bit of either that you mention. Withholding food/water except for the breakfast/lunch/dinner feedings for a couple of days might keep her from overeating or drinking too much until she's back into the habit of how to eat normally again.

It also could be she has or is getting a sour crop. Here are two great articles about crop issues. Just skim to the sour crop portions of each for ideas you could try.

Hopefully, she gets past this quickly!

Check the crop at daylight in the mornings to see if the crop is empty and flat before she eats. If not there may be a crop problem.

Completely empty in the morning. She is a 3 year old isa brown. I know she’s getting a bit old for her breed
