My sister rescued a baby starling from the barn floor. She has been taking care of it and it seems to be thriving. Ive been reading online about releasing back into the wild. It is not recommended because of imprinting. Any suggestions?

We had one I raised that lived for many years. They learn to talk and mimic the sounds around them. Ours would make the sound of the phone ringing and the answering machine picking up as well as me calling my son when he was young. He even got the pause between "Brandon come here" and the ever present "Now" that followed. :)

And as stated above, they are considered a "pest" so not protected.

Wildlife rehabbers will take them in. I have found and taken several to a local one. Starlings are not protected birds.
