Anyone who knows me on here knows I have a lot of ducks. Well, the numbers keep rising, and I had to make a deal with my hubby that the noises call ducks would find a new home if I were to get more ducks. On Saturday we got 7 beautiful black and white Muscovies. So, today I had to make some calls. After a few No’s I remembered that my local feed store is part of how I’ve acquired so many ducks. They learned that I had rescued ducks and soon they were giving out my name to people, in fact, this is how I got these call ducks, and about 40 more animals. Baby ducklings we’re falling through floorboards of an unkept coop..so I was called to see if I would take them from the neglectful owner. They were 3 days old. We went back to get the three adults. One hen had no foot from getting stuck in the floorboards, the drake had a prolapsed dinger that needed immediate care and they all had their nails growing back into their webbings from not walking. My heart broke. When we got the ducklings there were 7, sadly, two didn’t make it despite my round the clock care. These little noisemakers worked magic in my heart. We have a rule...No ducks in the barn! That’s where the feed is, but also a dish of dog food. Well, my three adult calls broke that rule a million Times a day...and we laughed. The babies are all doing great and three look to be drakes. So, back to the feed store...they also have a very quaint petting zoo...with, of course..call ducks! So I called Big Mike and told him the deal...and of course he obliged...thank goodness!!! Now, my ducks are seven miles away and many children will see them and delight in their calling..and I’m sure they will fine a way to sneak off and eat the Newfoundand’s dog food from time to time.
