What methods do you use to reintroduce a baby to the flock. We had a little guy hatch out way after the mother stopped setting. Sort of weird, but out it came! I took it in because it was so fragile, and now want to put it back out there. When I take it out, it's so excited that it just runs all over the pen, not really speaking chicken. All the chickens are friendly, and even the three hens tolerate him. He is just so much smaller than the rest, that we wanted to give him a little more time to grow. Shall I put him under the hen at night? Send him to chicken school? What have you guys found to be effective?
Thanks!

If the other chickens are not picking at him, you don't have a problem. Many people think it is best to add new birds at night. I would just watch to see that the others don't start to pick on him. Good luck!

Well, he is doing pretty well. I was going to leave him in yesterday, but after he fell into the waterer, got all muddy, and looked so pathetic, I put him in for the night. He's out there again today, running around, following the other little guys and seems to be getting stronger day by day. The three hens seem to just ignore him for the most part. They were including him in finding bugs yesterday and I thought that was a major breakthrough!
He is still learning how to speak chicken. It's pretty complicated for him!
