Like so many I got 7 chicks, 5 different breeds this spring from a hatchery. Love them all and they grew so well and healthy. One of the Araucanas turned out to be a rooster, and a very NICE one I might add
. Sadly, I do live in an area that is not zoned for roosters, so I needed to relocate him to a farm 3 weeks ago, when he was 11 weeks old. Apparently the current flock has roosters and wasnt very open to inviting a new member in. In the meantime they moved him to a temporary pen that had Cornish hens. The owners of this farm have asked me to relocate him again. So this Sunday I will be picking him up and bringing him back to my home and his former coop. I plan to talk to the neighbors to update them that I will be working diligently to find him a good home and having him sleep in my garage which muffles his morning song.
What I am now wondering is do you know what I can expect or might experience when I bring back Morley to the flock of hens that he grew up with? Do I need to be careful when I bring him back? I know the girls were rattled when he left and seemed that they needed to readjust to not having the big man on campus in the hen house. Anything I can do to make this easier on them all or do you think it all might go pretty smooth and not to worry?
