So a couple of weeks ago the neighbors dog came over unannounced and took out half my flock. 2 of my girls were injured but I thought might be ok. They've been in a cage inside the coop. I just put one hen back in general population bc she is using her leg pretty good and she's been picking at the other ones wound on her back. Do you think she will be okay? I just put her up on one of the roosting bars while they are all asleep. I'm worried the other hens will beat her up

Every situation and everyone's flock dynamics are different, so it could go either way. I never do the night thing. I am always around to supervise any such interactions.

Wise words. Since she has been in the coop and not separated from the main flock, I'd imagine that things should be ok. Like OldHens, I make sure that i am around to see whats going on.

These links may be useful, if things don't go as smoothly as you would hope -

Well everything seems to be fine this morning.. they are all walking around the run together.. no fighting. How long will it be before she lays an egg again?

When she's back to full health and recovered from the stress of the attack.

That's good to know. I was worried she would never lay again but she is squatting again
