A dog cage is always useful to have around for temporary unexpected circumstances such as a having to separate a bird from the flock due to aggression problems and having a bird getting injured. But,a cardboard box should work, just make sure that it is big enough for him to move comfortably. Put shavings or straw down in the bottom of the box and have food and water available. It is also a good idea to put some sort of plastic under the box just in case the water spills and seeps through, it could save a bit of clean up. Good luck with your move!!!
