Reluctent chicken keeper.

I have had chickens in my world a few times in the past, but I never really liked to be around them. I like pretty much all critters, wild and domesticated, but I found the pecking order battles off putting. I was finally introduced to Cochins and find I am pretty happy having them around.

Our flock has gotten bigger and smaller depending on health issues and predation (we have allowed them be free ranging until just recently). I just completed what I am calling the chicken palace due to the amount of time and money I used to get it done and the birds will be confind to the coop and run from now on.

Hello and welcome to BYC. It's never an easy decision to confine birds to a run, but it's likely only a human perception.

Glad you could join us here! It's great to hear you have found a breed you are enjoying. Your "palace" sure does sound interesting but sounds much safer for your birds, I too keep mine in a secure due to foxes that are brazen during the day.
