I was looking at the thread with closeup pictures , and started looking through my pictures, thinking I might have a nice closeup of someone. And I came across this:

This was the start of it all- the reason for the story. I looked through all the pictures, then I actually read the story. I don't think I have ever actually read it. It's not bad!!

I remembered things( pictures helped LOL)
After they wandered way too far, and the Ladies were grounded. The devoted biggest little rooster stayed by their fence

His first night with the Ladies:

I remember that so well. LOL He was afraid to go into the coop because it was dark. He thought he should be with the girls, but really wanted to be with the Ladies.
He had a great life with the Ladies. He really was a happy rooster, I think:

He definately made for a good story. I had big hopes for the biggest little rooster. One of the girls was going to go broody and hatch his little babies. He would be a daddy and take care of his babies.
My plans got cut short the day his life got cut short. So, I had plans for Hardyboy. I was hoping to keep the story going, and feel bad because it really hasn't. Poor Hardyboy just isn't telling the story like his dad did. I didn't make that story up- I just wrote what the biggest little rooster was showing me. Hardyboy just isn't showing me . I'm hoping as he gets a little older, something will click, but not having too much hope. Hardyboy is now just about the age his daddy was when he lost to the neighbors dog. Sometimes it amazes me, how much story the biggest little rooster had in just a few short months. Ahhh, I miss him.

It is a lovely, sweet, funny story. It's amazing how much personality each chicken has, obvious even right out of the egg.

My kids and I have really enjoyed reading BLR's story and Laurel and Hardy's and the other babies stories. I think the babies learned a lesson from BLR, though, and decided that was enough adventure for a while.

Thank you for sharing the BLRs journey with us, and please keep the updates going with the little ones, even if they aren't so charismatic as their dad. It might even skip a generation, and you'll have a BLR III in one of his grandchickies!
