Do I need to separate my newly cocky roosters from the rest of the flock to keep hens from getting nervous? We got our chicks March 19th. No eggs yet. Several roosters in the bunch. Thanks

From getting nervous? No, the hens tend to put young roosters in their place if they get frisky.

(Although if you see some serious picking going on, you sure might want to remove the trouble makers)

From being treaded bare and fought over? Depends on your ratio of hens to roosters. One rooster per 10 or so hens works well. Any more boys than that in the mix and you'll eventually have some big problems. Large breeds like Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, etc... will be about 6-7 months old when they really start to fight.

There are no real rules regarding when roosters should be seperated from the hens. It depends more on your individual flock and what how they are interacting.
