Rent-a-chick!

I think I may need to advertise this service!

I just put in a bid on ebay for 12 buff orpington eggs & 12 black maran's. I've always wanted the marans & now that I have my incubator figured out I can risk the extra cash.

So - that will give me some yellow chicks & black chicks - assuming I have them this week then the end of the first week in April they will be ready for photo town.

I can also start selling off my others. I have an ancient hen that can go - I think she is the one that lays thin eggs. Plus my month olds are now old enough to tell who is a rooster & who isn't. So I can reduce that flock by some.

I love buff orps - they have been my stand by chickens from the start so getting some more will be good.

Plus - @ 12 eggs of each - figure only half will hatch (maybe) so thats 6 birds - half of which will be roosters - so really these 24 eggs at best will add 6 hens. Of course I stil need to determine what rooster to add to my flock since the ol' fox ate Russell Crowes at christmas.

At the moment I have a black silkie roo - The black australorps are a month old - have about 7 in there. My newest hatch of 6 mutts - only a couple days old - so not sure there. But if I get the buff orps & black marans - I'll have to keep a rooster from each so i can start selling hatching eggs!

Man - spring time is definately here - chicken activity is skyrocketing!

So I got a call from the photographer today. She has had her chicks for a month & is ready to bring them over to my house today @ noon!

She said she purchased 6 from the local TSC. The funny thing is - she asked if it was ok that they were 'they pullet type'!

Ha - I love this country. I hope she made lots of money & happy children with those chicks!

My DW just called. The nice lady dropped off 6 buff pullets about 4 or 5 weeks old - fully featherd & 4 "banty" chicks just a couple days old.

They are all in the large brooder with my other 6 mix chicks. Since she doesn't have a home flock & these have just been in a box for a month I'm going to go out on a limb & say they don't need a quaranteen.

In any case - I can't wait to get home & see what I have!

I am looking at buying a house near the university I am attending, because its impossible to find a vacant rental near campus and there is a long waiting list to get a room in the dorms. The place looks perfect, but it has a tenant who's lease does not run out until the school year ends in May. The seller insists this is a major perk, because the house will start generating revenue as soon as I buy it.
I want to live in the house, not rent it out. Is this a lost cause?
I found this guys “I – Agent” which are supposed to be the largest Realtor Rebate in the DC Metropolitan. I heard that they are providing excellent customer services
