Repelling or managing mites in chicken coop

Hello, I wonder if anyone has got an experience in using essential oils such as dill, anise, eucalyptus, peppermint in the coop to repel or manage the mites problem. I was hoping to rub in neem oil into perch and some essential oil into the wooden walls of the coop. Although some of the herbs mentioned above are loved by chickens, would using essential oils be too overpowering and irritating?

Many thanks!

I just use whitewash. Two - three parts barn/masonry/hydrated lime (NOT garden lime. It Will Not Work) and one part white salt, mix with enough water to give you the consistency of milk and slather/scrub it on everything. It dries to a bright, lovely white and kills germs, odors and mites.
