I recently posted in the emergencies thread and received some greatly helpful and timely advice, and when I went back to post a thank you, I was conflicted. My emergency was over - those who will live, will live, those who are too weak (1) might die, but I'd already gotten all the help I needed. I wanted to say thank you, but it concerned me that it would bump my post to the top, over other threads where people still need actual help.

Is there some method to append a reply without necessarily bumping the thread to the top of the forum? (A "informational/non urgent" reply)?
If not, I'll get over it. Just curious.

You could always click the little thumbs up icon that's at the bottom right of the person's post. You can write "thank you" in there.

You could also edit the first post to tell the outcome, and say your thanks there.

That's very thoughtful of you, in any case.
