REPOST. Can someone please help me figure out if it’s a young hen or rooster?

I just recently got this 8 month old chick they told me it’s a hen, acts very much like a hen, but starting to wonder if its really a hen or rooster the saddle feathers are rounded. can someone please help

At that age if it’s not laying I would be very suspicious as well. Apparently it’s not crowing either? It does have male specific feathering

I agree, it’s definitely a cockerel. At eight months, the person who sold it to you should also know that it’s not a hen…

Correct not laying eggs and yes I do have a rooster.

He's either a late bloomer or isn't really 8 months old. He also may not be crowing because he's adjusting to his new home. He might not feel like it's his territory yet.
