I am really interested in getting a Turkey to keep here on my farm and I have a 4 stall horse barn with a corral connected to two of the stall, chicken wired for keeping my chickens in during the day. I was curious if I could leave the turkey out there at night, with the bottom of the stall door open. I don't know if turkeys can fend for themselves, but there's a stall full of stumps to retreat to and they are pretty big so I wouldn't be surprised. Also If they can fend for themselves which breed is best, and most friendly?
Thanks, Sam

They will need predator protection. Full grown they do pretty well but I would not recommend just letting them roost in the trees. They need a home or they will disappear and go wild.
