Rescue chickens

HI

I've had chickens since last June. A friend had chickens invading her yard and eating the cat food. I came and got two hens. I have no idea the breed. The head hen is small brown and goes broody a lot. They weren't someones chickens. My friend's neighborhood already had lots of chickens running around up in North Austin.

I got the hens a free rooster on craigslist. He was a barred rock. I left the coop open one night only and a racoon got him. He managed to fertilize one egg and that hatched out a little grey chick last August. She started laying in Feb but then got egg bound and this site helped me figure out how to save her. She's still not 100% so I'm looking for advice on getting a chicken healthy again.

Good luck with the pullet. Have you given her supplemental calcium? Had she laid since she passed the bound egg?

I have given her tums and as of today crushed up eggshells. She has not laid an egg yet. Her poops are still pretty runny.

She's separated from the other chickens but is Scratching! and Looking for food on her own as of today.

But she's a little stumbly and her tail is a bit down. She's not 100%
