I want to start by saying I would never buy something like this myself but I was offered some Rescue Remedy Pet for my rooster. It's an herbal remidy in glycerin that is used for calming animals.

Chicken-Butt is hand raised, lives in my house, eats dinner with me and loves to go into town with me when I run errands. The problem is he doesn't get much exposure to other people, just my Bf and I so people make him a might nervous. You know how upset roosters can act out, for the most part he's chill but once in a while theres someone he really doesn't like. Thats when he starts crowing and flaping and he basicly becomes inconsolable, I'm not worried he'll hurt someone becasue he's only a bantam. A small bantam at that, I also keep his spurs dulled. There are no natural preditors where we live and we have no other chickens for him to contend with so theres no need for sharp spurs. I was hopeing that the Rescue remedy might help take the edge off meeting new people.

I'm conserned though, is it really safe? Does it work? I wanted to know if any of my fellow chicken compatriots might have some experiance with Rescue Remedy Pet and if so could I get some feed back?

I've not researched any of those 'flower' extracts to see what effects they have and if any would actually be toxic to fowl or not. The site leans more towards canine use too. Have you ever thought or can you get him a mate? Chickens are social animals and much prefer company of their own kind. Personally, I think if he had his' own kind' around as in another chicken preferably a pullet or hen would be the biggest comfort of all for him and you and your guests too!

taste it. a friend recommended rescue remedy for sleep for me and as far as I was concerned it was the equivalent of the old west patent medicine wagon...all alcohol.
Absent any hens to protect he is probably acting out protecting you, not very healthy situation. Get him a few hens and let him be the little man he'd like to be. I have a bantam rooster too, I know how easy they are to love.

I would love to get him some hens, unfortunetly I'm tight on space. If I had my own yard, with out bitchy landlords, then he would have his own lil flock of hens. Right now thats a pipe dream and I have to find other solutions... We tried a mirror, but after his comb got humongus that mirror wasn't fooling anyone! Once upon a time we had a kitty on loan and she kept him company, but she was on loan and I wasn't buying the food. Maybe I could try a stuffed toy chicken until I can work out something better?

Thank you all for responding.... on a side note Ready Remedy Pet is alcohol free.
