Although it's only February, it's time to start thinking about expanding your flock. If you are considering expanding, chicks are a delight to have and are an amazing and fun experience. Yet, there are other fun ways to receive more chickens.

As a chicken farm which rescues abused or abandoned chickens, it's hard to understand what these animals go through. As well as so many other types of animals, chickens are abused in so many ways. What a great feeling it is to save a little life of these adorable birds.

All year long you can adopt from a local farm and poultry rescue, or many ASPCA or MSPCA farm organizations have chickens as well. Especially if you are wanting a rooster, so many unwanted roosters are surrendered from people who abuse them, or even simply people who can't legally keep roosters in their area or can't take care of them.

Chicks are a wonderful experience, but this spring, consider saving a chickens life. Look on online shelter websites or sites like petfinder.com
