I responded to a craigslist ad for chickens for sale. I drove to the house, very dumpy, (13 dogs, 8 cats, 2 turkeys, 20 chickens, racoon, and more poo than Ive seen in any horse stable, ever) Besically this lady is an animal hoarder. After a 45 minute drive to get "Arucanas and BarredRock" I show up to find she has sold them, and she had these left. I had to get the birds out of their horrid enviornment, so I bought em and dont know what they are.

What kind of bird is this? I only keep brown egg layers, so Im not familiar with Leghorns, Broilers, or Meatbirds.

Sounds like dirty birds to me! ;)

Do you have a picture?

Be sure to keep them seperate from your other birds, until you are sure they are healthy, you never know what kind of dieses they could spread to your other birds!

They look like a strain of Leghorns ... Should lay a bunch of white eggs quite good, if their healthy and not too old.

I was hoping they were Leghorn- lady said she got all the birds this spring "and theyre just too much" for her to handle.

I just DO NOT want to have meat birds that will grow to be unhealthy/disproportionate/ major organ failures due to being bred to never stop growing.

Not meaties.

I think the first bird posted is either a white Rock or a mixed breed. In the second group of pics, the middle bird looks more Leghorn-ish. but from the conditions you described, I'd put good money on barnyard mixes all around
