Rescued chick... but what kind?

My ex-husband called to ask me for help setting up some space for a chick he found wandering the streets of the ghetto, near a tow-yard. The poor thing was hungry and sooo thirsty.

Does anyone have a clue what the breed might be? Sorry the photos are kind of funky. I'm actually wondering if it's really a turkey or something because it is BIG.

From your pics, I would guess a Buff Orpington. Poor scraggly little thing... I'm sure he'll look better in no time!

The poor little thing is so sweet. One of the nicest little birds I have met. They passed a law around here that households can have up to 3 female chickens within city limits. This means many (mostly male) are getting dumped in parks and back roads. It makes me so angry.

He's in the city, so if it's a rooster he won't be able to keep him. He is my EX-husband so I am not privy to all of his plans, but I think he is hoping to give it to my mother.
