Rescued Feral Rock Dove/Pigeon

So... I have bad news.
Was trying to take the dove to a rescue reserve, but sadly it passed away during the bus trip there... If I was allowed more than a single day to care for it, it would have likely survived. But ignorant people forced me to get rid of it only after a day of taking it in.

The bright side in this sad situation is that you were able to give the bird a comfortable place to pass away. The ripped out tail is definitely a sign of a hawk attack, perhaps the hawk injured it internally in some way that you couldn't see. I think because the bird died so suddenly it would've happened regardless and that it's really not your fault, especially considering it was feeling well enough to bathe even with an injured foot. Take pride in the fact that you comforted and cared for him in his final days.
