Hi,

I have a chicken who for at least 2 months has been mostly breathing through her mouth, has a drooping comb, sometimes goes a little dark in colour which I beleive means lacking oxogen, wheezes at times. sneezes a fair bit, has swollen feet and is slow to move around. Otherwise eating and drinking fine and is still alive even after 2 months! None of the other chickens have had a problem so obviously isn't contagious. She has had 2 courses of antibiotics with no improvement at all. Any ideas please as she isn't "right"!

Thanks

I wish I could help with identifying your birds illness, but I really can't.

What I can tell you is I have learned from BYC that viral illnesses won't respond to antibiotics so maybe it isn't something bacterial, but viral.

I sure hope she gets better and that none of your other birds become infected. Good luck and wish I could help.

Did you give antibiotics in the form of Tylan, or just something like Duramycin?? I have found that powder antibiotics don't work well (from my experience) and when I go to injectable Tylan 50 WHAM!!!! In 3 to 4 days, all better....
