Really looking forward to getting my four girls up and ready for egg production. They are so much fun to interact with, hold and talk to. Never thought I would treat them like part of the family.

Welcome to BYC!

Welcome home! Where are you moving to? Will you have a little land or will you be in a town/city? I moved to Iowa from a small farm in Lake Oswego, Oregon , which is pretty much a wealthy bedroom community near Portland, and let me tell you, it was a major adjustment. Now I live in SE Iowa -Fairfield - and love it here. The town ordinance allows residents to keep 10 chickens, but I've never been one to follow rules very well, so I have 5 Buff Orphington, 5 Cookoo Marans, 3 Black Australorps, and 4 Americaunas. The Buff Orphingtons are pretty much "retired" now. They lay occasionally. My neighbors are cool, and I keep them happy with free eggs, so nobody is likely to report me. I wish you luck, and hope you can keep as many hems as you want.
