Revamping my Flock

I'm still Green to raising Chickens. I've learned so much from this forum.
I started out in July with 2 Bar Rocks, 2 Delawares and 2 Buckeyes. Was projected to have eggs by Sept/Oct but no layers. Mid Oct the flock started to mature and found out that 5 of the 6 were Roos. We first got rid of the Delaware cause he was a little mean. The other Delaware started laying about 2 weeks ago and we have 11 eggs from her so far. This past weekend we got rid of the Bar's and picked up 2 Orpingtons.
Could anyone share their experiences with the Orpingtons?

Orpingtons are one of my favourite breeds. They are friendly and sweet and curious. They tend to go broody and usually make good mothers. I love their fluffiness.

Correct me if I’m wrong but do you still have 3 roosters? That is a lot if you only have 3 hens (assuming the two new Orpingtons are hens). You will probably need to re home two more rooster or else get a lot more hens.

If the cockerels are not causing an issue than no worries, as there seems to be no perfect ratio, so if the OP has a peaceful flock than that ratio works.

I have 2 Buckeye Roos left. I plan on getting rid of 1 of them mid Jan.

Orps, especially buffs, are usually equated as the Golden Retriever of the chicken world. Lol that kinda says it all, if you get a chance scoop up some lavendar Orps, they are beautiful and always stand out in a flock.

Sure, for now. But the OP states that they are green. And three cockerels will turn into three roosters.. which will most likely cause issues. :idunno

Not always the case, especially living together from an early age. Many examples of such flocks maintaining peace, especially once the spunky cockerel stage is done. Unless they were gamebirds a bloodbath is not always an outcome with multiple roo flocks.
