Revisiting my roo and what type he could be...

Here is a picture of my Partridge Cochins, there is a light and a dark roo. They are young so they dont have the Cochin fullness yet, but you might see where the color similarities are.

Sometimes mutts are just flat stunning as in this case, but then I'm partial to Partridge marked birds. The closest bet really is Marans/Partridge Rock. Marans tail and back and mixed leg color, and nice nod to Partridge Rock in the feathering.

For a mixed flock he'd probably make an awesome Roo.

Fizzy just in the interest of passing on breed knowledge - the rooster in question has the following traits NOT found in the partridge rock.

Tail set, too high and squirreled. Very short back and upright posture, not wide enough. Wrong leg color, a good PR's legs are VERY yellow with a bronze front, a touch of red permissible. Too much black, wattles too long, eyes too red.

Leg color alone rules the bird out as a purebred Partridge Rock. However many first generation mutt crosses of PR to marans and to Black Australorps, immediately lose the yellow.

BA is another possible contender to the mix, but the wattles are far more typical of a Marans roo.
