Rhode island red hens

someone told me today that rir hens sometimes never brood they are basically egg producers. just wondering if this is a fact. we were discussing changing our flock to orpingtons.

I have a lot of experience with the hybrid sex links which are never supposed to go broody and have had more than a dozen go broody in 2 years. I had 4 go broody last summer, but most don't make the best mothers.
If you want few broodies, you will most likely get a couple a year with Rhode Island Reds.
