As I was looking at my girls this morning the one I call Peeps maybe a Roo. Her comb is bigger than the others and it looks like it's turning red at the base. Not sure yet, they are only a little over 2 weeks old. But when I asked her what was going on she just looked at me as if to say .... That's Mr. Peeps to you!!

That's a male sign, for sure. However, it is too soon. Put a little band of vet wrap around a leg, loose fitting.

Or, if you think you can keep track of (him) then watch for other "signs". One has likely already passed, but the cockerels tend to have white wing patches. Also, the males tend to have shorter tails at 4 weeks than the pullets, whose tails shoot out longer, much faster.

Just keep track of these "signs" along the way. At 7 weeks, if that big old red comb pops out? He holds his head up high and watchful? Yeah, congratulations. You've got yourself a cockerel.

OMG then I may have two Roos! One my husband calls Henrietta has had white wings from day one. Plus she didn't have a strike on her head now I know that's not A reliable way of sexing but she did have all white wings and her comb too is larger and red. So I've been watching her pretty closely but peeps surprised me this morning when I saw the comb the way it was. She too has white on her as well it's more under her neck and around the sides that's how I can tell her and the other one apart from the rest of them.
I was worried I wouldn't have a rooster at all the one I ordered didn't get in my box so I was hoping maybe that 95% all hens would allow me 5% good chance!!
Woohoo I'm so excited. Thank you so much for replying to my post. No one I know is really into chickens so I love being able to talk about my girls oops and boys!! Fingers crossed!
Ih and both of them seem to keep things in line. Peeps got the name because she is always peeping around when u come up to the box. Even when she seems asleep! Lol to funny!

Ok so after I got home I looked at the two in question and their tail feathers ARE shorter than the others. LOL So now my question is can I have two RIR roos? will they get along? I have heard things on both sides of multi roos but I am thinking maybe different breeds react differently to each other. So you know how 2 RIR Roos will do together?
