We have been raising ringnecks for 3 years from day olds we buy and then releasing in our area to help re populate it. Its been a great success!
Well we would like to keep a male with 3 females. However, we have never bred these birds.
What type of nest? Or things would the hen need?
Does the male need to be removed once they lay?
Will he breed all 3 hens?
Can the females have there chicks around the other hens and there chicks?
We have a very large outside pen the size of a pole shed, that is filled with evergreen trees, tall grass, hay for winter, we use bales for shelters, as natural as possible to there outside surroundings once released. Anyways we hope to be able to just allow the 3 hens and rooster to naturally do there business and hatch there own.
We want to keep all 4 we keep as un pet like as possible, we want the chicks to be raised by mother not by us, but of course we do have the brooder if need be.
Is this possible? Do we need to seperate hens from each other? Or the rooster?
