Rob Again, I noticed a few of my chicks have small bald spots on the back of their heads. Can anyone tell me whats this is. They are 2 and a half weeks old and starting to get their feathers.
Thanks again,
Rob Ewing

Watch for chicks picking on chicks. If this is what's happening the moment blood is drawn you will have a problem. Canabalism in chicks can happen. More room and more things to pick at may help; sod-dirt, roots, and grass along with any insects and worms works well. Make sure there is no pesticides/herbicides on it.

How many chicks do you have and how big of an area are they in?
Cannibalism would be my first thought as well.
Depending on the size of their pen some things you do to curb the cannibalism are try to keep it as dark as you can in their pen, use red heat lamp instead of white, hang a head of lettuce for them to pick at, add different items for them to investigate periodically (some branches).
