Very sad how these two died.

Everyone living here in New Mexico is fairly schooled on how to avoid getting Hanta Virus, it's rare but people have died from it, mainly in the 4 Corners area. You have to live in VERY dirty dusty rodent infested conditions to catch this virus, it's pretty rare. (Avoid sweeping dirt floors in barns, sheds and shaking out rugs known to have fresh rodent droppings, breathing it in, etc...) We are all confused as to how Betsy caught Hanta Virus, it's not like they could have a rodent infested home in their poshy mansion in Santa Fe. They had hired workers to perform every duty needed on their big estate. She was devoted to Gene caring for him for quite some time, rarely leaving his side, where did she contract Hanta?

Gene was in bad shape with Alzheimer's, Betsy must have thought she was putting the dog in the crate temporarily, she died very quickly from Hanta Virus and Gene was too out of it to know the dog was in the crate and his wife was dead on the floor. (This is one theory).
