i came home saturday afternoon to find a massacre in my backyard

my favorite gorgeous black sexlink rooster, along with my BSL hen and 2 young pullets had been killed by my neighbors new husky. Marley was the sweetest rooster ive ever known, he was a great protector of his hens, never attacked anyone, and always came running to be picked up whenever anyone went outside, i was even teaching him tricks. he would have been 1 year old in april. Rest in peace my sweet boy i will miss you

I have his son Ziggy, luckily i havent gotten rid of him yet. i can only hope he'll be as sweet as his father

Did you talk to your neighbors about their dog being kept contained? Poor Marley. Huskies are the worst about killing poultry it seems. If my son had to come live with me, he could not bring his, period.

yes we went over there that day and talked to them, they assured us that the dog would be kept tied up, yet the very next day my dad was sitting in the backyard and saw something through the fence tearing at my neighbors chicken run trying to get in, it was the husky they had tied him with a cloth rope and he chewed through it, so we took the dog back to them again and my dad said that was their last chance, if hes in our yard again we will call animal control but if we actually see him chasing the chickens he'll be shot =/

so now im down to 5 chickens

plus my chicks inside but between the hawks and now the dog ive lost over half my flock along with my guinea =/ and i dont really have money right now to build a run so i guess they will have to stay in the coop until i get home from work to be out there to watch them
