Was a sad day on the farm here today. When I left all the chickens were in the barn hanging out on the stall wall everyone seemed fine. When I got home, I couldn't find Miss Tina.

I searched all over for her. I found her under the kids wagon like she was sleeping, but she wasn't sleeping.

I know some will think I'm silly for getting a little upset over a chicken. But Tina was the first to greet me every day, the first to get the treats, was the lead hen. I really don't know what caused it, there was no apparent trauma, only thing I could find was some yellow gooey stuff in her vent area. All the other chickens seems upset, they didn't even want the spaghetti noodles I took to them this afternoon. She laid the prettiest blue eggs too I do have some chicks from her that just hatched recently I hope she passed on some of her personality. She liked to jump up in my lap if I was sitting in a chair outside. Sorry for my rambling, Thanks for listening. here's a picture of the dear girl from October.

I'm so sorry you lost your girl! I know I understand how you feel and I'm sure most everybody on here does as well. Take comfort that you have her babies and I'm holding faith that one or more of them will remind you of your precious girl.

So sorry for your loss. It's always seems to be our 'favorites" who pass too quickly. Fortunately you have chicks and wonderful pics of your girl.

Many of us understand your being upset; please don't apoligize for your feelings. They are wonderful creatures who enhance our lives every day. Be thankful you are so loving and that your chicks are loved.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your feathered friend. I don't think it is at all silly for being upset and understand it completely. I hope she went to "sleep" peacefully and am sure that she is in the Great Free Range Pasture in the sky with my Petunia and Soupy (RIP friends).
She was beautiful.

Thanks everyone. Hubby said "its just a chicken" This very website is the whole reason I had her to begin with I got her last summer from one of the members here. I'll miss my blue egg though, hopefully one of her chicks will also lay blue eggs, I have no idea what color egg the roo came from though.

Karen,

I'm so sorry, I felt your pain reading your post and honestly it doesn't matter if it's a dog, cat or chicken...they are part of us and if they are cut we bleed. I bet her babies are going to be a wonderful addition to your chicken family!
