I just had to call the dog officer.. caught a dog in our run. It had ripped a hole in the poultry wire where it overlapped and got in. Luckily it only got one chicken. The others were in the coop on the roost, obviously spooked.
It was a yellow lab.
It ran into the neighbors yard, dropped the chicken when I ran after it.
Too late..
I called to the dog and it came to me, so I locked it in my breezeway and called the animal control officer.
The owner came to pick him up, was quite apologetic, said he was leashed in the yard and he wasn't sure how he escaped.
I told him to make sure to solve that problem so he doesn't come back for more!
My kids are upset...
She just started to lay large green eggs a couple days ago.
I will have to reinforce the fencing on the run.
I'm sad.
