Would I still have hyline brown chicks with a Rhode Island Red rooster and Hyline Brown hen cross? Or would they be considered a barnyard mix?

Would they still be good egg layers? I'm wondering if it is worth my time or if I should just wait until I can locate RIW laying hens.

I don't have either of those breeds, but i would imagine so. We used to have RIR and they were good layers. Those crossed with another good laying breed usually results in good laying chicks.

I have ISA Browns that are a cross with RIR and another breed they are touted to lay 360? eggs a year. I will say they are prolific layers.
