Hi!
I am new to chickens. Just got my first chicks 4 weeks ago. The man who owns the feed store said he hatched them himself I don't know if that means he bred them himself, or someone gave him fertile eggs.

Well, one of the 'Rhode Island Reds" he sold me has feet that are turning blue! When I went back to the feed store for feed, I asked him about it and he said that they will lay blue eggs because they have blue feet. Is that true? I would love it if it were true!

(I guess the only thing 'Rhode Island' about these chicks is that they were hatched in Rhode Island Actually, in the town next door to where the breed originated!)

Thanks for any info,
Jamelle

And Rhode Island Reds don't lay yellow eggs either

OP here,
The chick in question also had a black streak on her head, and one down her back when she was a 'newborn'. I have since seen baby araucanas(sp?) and while she didn' t look as "chipmunky" as they did, she did a little bit.

So what is up with the blue feet?

Ah hah! Sounds like you've got yourself an Easter Egger. They look a little similar to Araucanas and Ameraucanas but are pretty much multicolored "mutt chickens" which lay colored eggs. (At least they're supposed to, a few lay regular brown eggs). Pics would help though.
