Hi everyone. I am new to this site and I had a few questions? I am planning on hatching out some eggs soon. I was wondering if yall had some pics of the crosses Im thinking about, or if you know what they might look like. I have some brown egg layers all in the coop together.

My roosters are a big black sex link and Rhode island red

My hens are mostly silver laced wyandottes and red sex link. got a 1 barred rock and 1 black sex link hen in there also.

I also have two red sex link roosters that are not in with the hens right now. They are mostly white and I want to kind of get away from a lot of white .....I think the hawks pick em out a litle easier.

Does any one know how the RIR rooster over the SLW will look like? or the BSL rooster over the SLW's chicks might look like? Is it possible to get a red laced chick come from this.

I dont know about all the variabilities with the bsl and rs thrown in the mix....Im just gonna hatch this first batch out and see what turns out. If yall have any eperiences with any of these crosses please feel free to post some pics!!

God bless

I had read somewhere that the red coloring of a blue laced red wyandotte came from RIR. not sure if the lacing is dominate or recessive gene.

The lacing will be there, but it'll be poor as it's partially dominate. You'd have to cross F1s back to a laced bird to get decent lacing. However, your setup makes it a bit time consuming...

RIR over SLW will give red hens with incomplete lacing, the roos will be split for gold (they'll look like poorly laced SLWs with red leakage). Breeding F1s to each other will give you a variety of patterns and colours, so there'd be a lot of culling involved. Breeding an F1 roo to the SLW hens will give both red, gold and silver birds with lacing (most poor lacing but you might get a few decent - mind you you'd need a high number of birds to be pretty certain of getting a decent laced bird) and some of the silver birds will have red leakage. The type will be somewhat off for Wyandotte too.

That being said if you're just after layers that aren't white, I'm sure you'll be happy with RIRxSLW cross.
