What do you think is the best breed

I have had both and I prefer RIRs. Both are great layers but my RIRs seem a little brighter and prettier to look at. I also prefer the brown eggs. They all seem to have unique personalities though. I've had some chickens I really loved from both breeds and some problem birds from both as well.

I've had both die in the heat.

I've had both that are noisy, some that are quiet.

They both lay huge eggs.

They both lay frequently.

I think it all boils down to: which do you prefer, white shells or brown?
