road island browns be a hybred I have herd two difrent storyies one thaat they is a cross between road island red and road island white, and they lay brown eggs well mine lay white eggs and was told they was a cross between road island red and white sexlink

Only once in 50 years of raising chickens have I ever heard the label Rhode Island Brown used and it was indeed used for a Red Sex Link cross between a Rhode Island Red rooster and a Rhode Island White hen. This particular Red Sex Link is more commonly marketed under the labels Gold Sex Link, Gold Star, Cinnamon Queen, Bovans Brown, Golden Buff, Golden Comet, Isa Brown, Shaver Brown, Babcock Brown, Warrens, HyLine Brown, Lohmans Brown, Brown Shaver, and Red Shaver, but no matter which label they are sold under, they are egg laying machines, outlaying either parent breed. It's one of the interesting quirks of hybridization.
