Roadside chicken coop

My DH found this Rugged Ranch coop on the side of the road. Bonus! We are thinking of using it as a chicken tractor. The nesting box fell off cause....prefab prerequisite is crap hanging nesting box. I want to just put hardware cloth over the hole instead of reattaching it (I can use a portable one instead) and leaving the stupid slide-out tray out altogether and just putting the roosts back in. He will be painting and fixing the hardware cloth, etc but before he does anything I want your ideas and suggestions.

What a great score for a tractor! Love that idea! I used a pre-fab for a baby brooder. I agree to toss that dum tray and also the "nest box." You could just tack on of these inside "house" part. Congrats!

The price was right and it's got a lot of potential.

In my climate I'd take out the wall between the coop portion and the run portion.

It looks like a great size for a brooder. If it were me, I'd turn the doors into mesh doors so you can see the babies and put the roosts out in the little run so they can use them during playtime

Well...this escalated quickly. Butterball, my golden Cuckoo, has decided she's broody! So this remodel is getting fast-tracked. I've never let a broody get her way before but its been a dream of mine for a while so I have sourced some eggs and I'm going to move her as soon as its done, give her a couple dud eggs to make sure she keeps sitting then swap out the eggs I want chicks from. Hopefully that works. I have no idea what I'm doing and neither does she haha

Yep! It can still be used as a tractor later.

Awesome! When I first got this pre-fab for a brooder, my dog and I set it up in the Garage.....Then I moved it outside, attached to a wall in my coop and built a little run around it.
