Welcome to the Roam Free RP (short for roleplay)!
Now I’m no expert at dinosaurs, but I thought it would be cool to have a chill, fun sort of story where we can rp as Tyrannosauruses! You can play other types of dinos, but let’s try to stick with the main theme if possible!
This is by no means historically or even entirely physically accurate (heck, I don’t even know that many dinosaur species) so the point is to just have fun with it!
So. Without further ado, here’s the dino lore!
There are three different tribes of Tyrannosauruses—except they call their species “tyrants” (inspired by a comic book I read
).
1.) Territory number one (to the southwest and west): The Badlands.
These tyrants call their tribe the “Canyon Runners.” There are three thunders (a pack of T-rexes) in total who range these hills. Two have about the same amount of tyrants in them, and the third one is a smaller group of about 3-4 tyrants.
Each thunder had a male leader who’s called the “king” (the king holds no status like a human king, that’s just his title as leader. They also do not call him “King ____,” they just call him by his name). These dinos enjoy the company of each other, and pride themselves in their strength, which they put on show by fighting (usually in good nature).
These tyrants have colors that match their environment, with various shades of red, orange, and brown. Each tribe additionally wears naturally-made paints that shows their dedication to their tribe. The Canyon Runners wear light blue and red.
2.) Territory number two (to the southeast): The Marshes.
These tyrants call their tribe the “Wetlanders.” There is just one thunder who ranges this area, and they are a rather close group, considering themselves more of a family than the other tribes’ thunders care to admit. These tyrants’ colors range more in the blues and greens, and they wear orange and dark blue paints.
3.) Territory number three (to the northeast and northwest): The Mountains.
These tyrants call their tribe the “Mountaineers.” There is a dormant volcano nestled among the mountain, but it hasn’t erupted in years..
There are two thunders in total who range the elevations with nearly equal amounts of tyrants. They are strong, and do not fight for fun. They tend to be colder towards the other tribes, and see the Canyon Runners as “unruly,” and the Wetlanders as “lazy.” They can tend to be more aggressive, and come in various shades of grey to nearly white. They use purple and yellow paints.
Tyrants who hunt alone are called “scavengers” and do not wear paints. Typically they are avoided by the tribes because some can be dangerous. Others are either content to be alone, or were cast out of a thunder.
Triceratopses, called “tri-horns” are the Canyon Runner’s typical large prey, and among the few small herds, there is a massive herd of roughly 40-50 tri-horns led by a large, strong bull. He is the bane of many tyrants.
Ankylosauruses, called “shellbacks” typically roam the marshes, but not so much in packs since they are more capable of defending themselves. They will usually leave you alone if you do likewise, but a hit from one of their heavy tails is bone-breaking.
Other than those two main species, there are many different herds of dinosaurs who roam the territories, though not as commonly in the mountains.
I will rename most of the common dinos, and a list of their names can be found in the archives!
Tyrants call the prey they hunt either “small-prey, mid-prey, or large-prey.” It’s usually not as dependent on the species as it is the size of the animal.
Each tribe defends their territories from attacking tyrants, but the plains between each biome is free traveling/hunting territory. It takes about 2 days to travel from the heart of one territory to the other (1 day from one border to the next).
The tyrants live to be roughly 30 years old, physically maturing at age 18-20. The females tend to be larger than the males, but the males are stronger.
And yeah! Traditions are big, so run it by everyone if you wanna suggest one.
To make a character, just fill out this sheet and tag me so I can approve it and add it to the archives! I will link them below, since that’s where you can see the different characters!
Please ask me first if you’re planning to make one of your characters a king or herd leader! The slots are all open as of this post.
