Found a Robin's egg, don't worry I didn't steal it from a nest. Out of curiosity, becasue i found it on the ground and it wasn't cracked; I candled it. I know nothing about candleing eggs. Let alone a robin's egg. I can't tell if it's a quitter, I don't see a blood ring, and the air sack is intact and everything floats. again i know nothing about quitters or viable eggs. the only ones i know anytihng about are the ones in my fridge. If it isn't viable I want to blow it out of the shel and keep it, how do i go about that without breaking it?

I found 2 last year temps 100, hum 45 til day 10 then 65%

But I never got one to hatch.

how can i tell of it's a quitter? it wasn't there yesterday, but it got down to 46 last night. So I'm betting it died if it fell last night. but if it was this morning it may have a chance.

if u want to hatch it try it. but if it does hatch give it to the wildlife people

I wouldnt try hatching it personaly.Wild baby birds require basicly around the clock feeding's some as many as every 15 minute's.If you would like to try and hatch it I would ask a local refuge if they would be willing to take it in for care once hatched.

I think the shell would be too thin to blow out the contents. You could just save it as is. The insides will eventually dry out.

You can blow out that egg, but it is fragile. You can take a tack and prick the end and carefully take a screw and twist it until the holes get big enough on either end. Or you can use a dremel tool...but again, they're very fragile. We do all the eggs that fall out of trees that aren't cracked...it's kinda neat to have a collection of different types of eggs.

my friend is the one that found it, we're really just little kids hiding in grown-up bodies. I was just curious and after doing a bit of research i figured out that it isn't a viable egg anymore. It was the day I found it, but it is no longer. I have found empty un-cracked shells before, I think I may just set it in a flower pot I have out front and see what happens. If it rots I'll throw it away, and if the insides dry up I'll give it to my friend in a little woman-made nest. Thanks for the advice everyone. Next time I find a viable one, I'll try to hatch it. My parents have a friend that works with wildlife, but they don't incubate, they just care for the chicks. Thanks again!
