My dad and I have been rockhounds for years here in Texas. He has piles of rocks all over the place. Plus he collects specimens and collects gemstones also. My mom has some awesome jewelry from stuff my dad has.
We grew up north of the hill country here in texas and there is a place called Mason where you used to could go Topaz hunting on peoples ranches. Been a long time since we have done it but it was a cool thing to do when I was a kid. Found a few topaz here and there, more fun just looking for it.
Dad has tons of cabochons and lots of turned spheres that are really cool too.

For a sec I was going to say "I can do better, I have Wulfenite. . ." Then I saw yours. Gotta love Wulfenite.
big_smile.png

I too have a lot of "rocks," but I paid for mine.
tongue.png
I have Wulfenite, Azurite, Chalcopyrite, Rhodonite, Stibnite, pure Sulfur, Malachite, Sphalerite, Hematite, and Pyrite. Oh, and a real tooth of a Spinosaurus aegyptiacus. The most expensive ones were the Wulfenite due to its size, rarity, and location found (Red Cloud mine - Best Wulfenite in the US) , and the Azurite because of its size and purity on the matrix.

I can post pics if people want.

My mother was a science teacher and beginning back in the 60s an avid rock hound.

As children we traveled all over the country and collected rocks along the way. Anytime we stopped there was always a pot of coffee and time to sit enjoying the fruit (rocks) of our labors. The painted dessert in the July heat meant Iced coffee.

One of the last trips we took when I was an adult was to take Mother and Grandmother to Texas in search of petrified palm wood. We found some beautiful specimens.

When my mother died, we donated many of her nicer specimens to the school where she taught. It is a lovely display named for her, used by the school's science programs.

My granddaughter has now taken an interest in rock collecting so the fun continues.
