Rodent mites and chicken mites the same?

Do different species affect the two or are they pretty much the same?

Mites are pretty specific in choosing their hosts. Bird mites and mammal mites don't typically mix. So, a chicken with mites likely got them from another bird (as in wild birds or other chickens). Rodent mites tend to stick with rodents and other mammals.

Good to know, thanks. I brought in a ratt with mites and had to treat them all. Hoping that my house chicken didn't pick them up. I noticed her scratching some so thought I'd ask. I haven't seen any mites, and she/he is a young bird who has never been out of my house. So no way the chick could pick up bird-specific mites. Thanks!
